The exhaustion of holding it all together

You are still showing up. Work gets done, messages get answered, the people around you are looked after. From the outside, everything looks fine. But some mornings getting out of bed takes everything you have, and on the hard days the worry does not let up long enough for you to actually rest.

Maybe you have told yourself it is just stress, or a busy season, or the price of building a life in a new country. You have tried pushing through, cutting back on sleep, promising yourself you will deal with it once things calm down. For a lot of the people we work with, "once things calm down" never quite arrives, because there is always another responsibility, another expectation, another person counting on them.

You do not have to be falling apart to ask for support. You only have to be tired of holding all of it by yourself.

What anxiety and depression can actually look like

Anxiety and depression often show up together, and they do not always look like what people expect. Anxiety can feel like a mind that will not slow down, or a body that stays braced for the next problem. Depression can feel less like sadness and more like flatness, low motivation, or going through the motions.

You do not need a specific diagnosis to start anxiety and depression counselling. It looks at what is actually happening in your life right now, how long it has been building, and what kind of support would genuinely help, at a pace that works for you.

How we help

At Valentía and Grit, anxiety and depression are treated as connected, not as separate boxes to check. The practice was founded by Neudis Abreu, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), who built this model around ongoing, relational support rather than a fixed short-term program. Our therapists are emerging professionals working under close clinical supervision and the ethical standards of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.

  • Ongoing, relational support: many of the people we work with stay well beyond a short-term program, because that is what actually helps.
  • A biopsychosocial lens: your culture, language, and life circumstances are part of the picture, not an afterthought.
  • Accessible rates: care priced so cost is less likely to be the reason you stop.

What changes when the weight is shared

The bracing eases. Many people notice they can exhale between one demand and the next, instead of running on alert all day.

Function stops feeling like performance. Getting through the day takes less effort once the weight is shared instead of carried alone.

Staying in it won't cost you your stability. Sessions are priced so ongoing support doesn't have to compete with rent.

Common questions about anxiety and depression counselling

You do not need to diagnose yourself before reaching out. If worry, low mood, or exhaustion have been affecting your daily life for a while, it is worth exploring with a therapist.

That is a conversation for you and a physician, not something we prescribe. Many people manage anxiety and depression with counselling alone; others combine it with medical care, and we will be honest about what fits.

Our sessions are offered at an accessible rate, well below the typical starting price for private therapy. If you see a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), your receipt can often be submitted to insurance providers such as Sun Life, Manulife, or Green Shield. If affordability is a concern, ask us about your options.

Yes. Our therapists are emerging professionals working under close clinical supervision and the ethical standards of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. This model is what lets us offer skilled, attentive care at an accessible rate.

We provide virtual therapy across most of Canada. A small number of provinces have different regulatory rules for psychotherapy, so availability is confirmed when you reach out. If you're unsure, just ask, we'll let you know right away.

There is no fixed number of sessions. Some people come for a specific stretch of support, and many stay longer term, since anxiety and depression are rarely solved by a quick fix.

Support does not have to wait until you're at your worst

Anxiety and depression can make ordinary days feel heavier than they should. Help that respects your pace, your culture, and your life is one message away.
